Google Maps Adds Portland to Streetview
Google Maps added a few more cities to their streetview collection and Portland is now included. I am surprised by how much of the city they have covered. The street that runs along the east edge of our school playground is part of the collection. The image below is a screenshot of the corner where I have crosswalk duty each day at 3:00 pm. I showed this to one of our 2nd grade teachers and she is going to use it to preview an upcoming field trip that she and her class are taking next week to downtown Portland.

I really like the idea that Google maps can be used to view upcoming events, such as field trips.
I’m wondering…how much information do you receive on a place when using Google maps? Also, for what other purposes might teachers use Google maps in a school setting?
I’m just a curious reader. Thank you for your post!
