What I’m saying is that reduced class size is useless if you’re still going to teach like you’re a lecturer in some intro course at some enormous public university.

    I agree entirely. I see this everyday especially in general education classes. In special ed. settings the need for modified instruction calls for teachers to write individual “lesson plans” for each student. This pressure of working with paraprofessionals in both self-contained and inclusion settings doubles the instructional pressure. I believe that teachers have to universally understand that this profession is no longer an 8-3 or contractual issue. It has evolved into a profession where one is working 24×7, because our work involves thinking and dissemination of ideas – our work continues whether we are doing our personal chores or not, whether we are in the classroom or not…………….
